::I'm not sure Jon wants to turn them off, just to eliminate the "sub-section" numbering trees, so that they don't display like "1.1.3.4". I really don't know -- other than to just switch off TOC and hard-code a linky-dinked custom table, but that sure would be a lot of effort. Sorry, but this may be one of those "it's just the way Mediawiki is, live with it".
