TaraElla is an Australian singer-songwriter. She has been writing and performing music since 2003. Previously, she mainly worked on music without lyrics, but is currently focusing on making music with vocals, which began with the release of the first single Beauty in 2010. She is, however, most notable for her cultural projects. She has been thought of as a person whose ideas may change the cultural landscape in some sections of society.[1]

Cultural Projects
TaraElla is most noted for her cultural projects. She self-identifies as a liberal, but not a politically correct one. Some people, however, consider her a third force in the cultural wars.[2] Her cultural projects include:
- Supporting Marriage Equality (2003 to present): TaraElla believes in marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples, and supports the marriage boycott.[3]
- The Liberal Guardian Project (2008 to present): TaraElla thinks that there should be a subset of liberal-minded people who live a clean lifestyle so that they can defend the values of liberalism effectively. She calls these people the Liberal Guardians and counts herself as one, and has published numerous books especially for this audience.[4]
- Promoting Politically Incorrect Liberalism (2011 to present): According to her, this is a form of liberalism where people are not afraid to step on others' toes. For example, people can be critical of each others' religious beliefs.[5]
Objection to Wikipedia Inclusion
In May 2011, a fan created a page on Wikipedia about TaraElla. However, she raised objection to being included there soon afterwards, saying that Wikipedia is 'anti-citizen journalism' because it blankly disallows all self-published material to be cited as sources without regard to the quality of those sources, and therefore as a promoter of Self Made Star values, she did not want her cultural projects to be included in there. The original author took the content down soon after.
Criticism
TaraElla has received plenty of criticism from both conservatives and liberals, for her cultural projects and the stances they take.
Conservatives have taken issue about her stance on marriage equality and her pro-welfare stance. They have argued that she can't be truly pro-family if she wants to 'destroy marriage'. But she and her fans have argued that gay marriages don't destroy marriage, and welfare actually benefits families.[6][7]
Some liberals have said that TaraElla is not a true liberal, because of her views on cheating, divorce, drugs and alcohol. She has been called a prohibitionist at times.[8]
