There are really two histories to SOG Knives. The first history stems from a convert operations task force called the ''Studies and Observations Group'', which needed new tactical equipment to handle stealth missions in the harsh east Asian landscape. Among many specialized tools, the group invented a new tactical knife to meet the qualifications of jungle warfare. In the late 1980s, entrepreneur Spencer Frazer founded a company to continue the legacy of the original SOG bowie knife, which spawned numerous qualities knives, branching out into hundreds of styles of knives and tools today.
