In March of 2007, Smith and a fellow University student created PlayerBites.com, a site providing news and reviews on upcoming MP3 and portable media players. Subsequently after launch, Smith was given sole responsibility of the site.
PlayerBites, with its mere year-long life span, became a ''goto'' site in its niche. Numerous articles featured on the likes of Engadget, Gizmodo and other tech related sites. During its short stint, PlayerBites received over 1,000 unique visitors on average per day and made about $200 a month.

PlayerBites ceased to exist in March of 2008 so that Smith could focus his attention elsewhere. Utilizing his previous success as a platform, Smith launched BlogaPro, a site that teaches individuals how to make money blogging, in an attempt to give back to the community sharing his knowledge of professional blogging.
