You don't "get" a NAICS code, you just decide which one (or ones) you feel best identify your line of work. They're the successor to the old "SIC" codes, which are still widely used by business and marketing directories. On our old Centiare.com site, I decided that we might do well to take only the first 5 digits of the 6-digit NAICS code into account, since it would open up more possibilities for matching searches, but now, I'm not so convinced many of our users are even employing this identifier, so I'm not bossing anyone on how to use them.
