In 1986, Kohs accepted a Dean's Scholarship (half tuition) to attend [[Directory:Emory University|Emory University]] in [[Directory:Atlanta|Atlanta]], [[Directory:Georgia|Georgia]].  Graduating magna cum laude in 1990 with a [[Bachelor of Arts|Bachelor's degree]] in History, Kohs accepted a Russell Conwell Fellowship (full tuition, plus annual stipend) to attend [[Directory:Temple University|Temple University]] in [[Directory:Pennsylvania|Philadelphia]], [[Directory:Pennsylvania|Pennsylvania]].  There, he pursued a PhD degree which combined elements of Military History and Quantitative Methods in Geography.  After passing the comprehensive exams and completing work on about one-quarter of his dissertation (which was to have covered the Eastern European aviation industry in the 1930's), Kohs opted to leave academia with his [[Master of Arts|Masters degree]] to pursue a career in marketing research.

Having worked for two previous firms ([[Directory:Data and Management Counsel|Data & Management Counsel]] and [[Directory:Research Works|Research Works]]), Kohs is now a Vice President at [[Directory:ICR|ICR (International Communications Research)]].  His work includes mostly quantitative survey data collection among business and consumer audiences.  Primary clients include [[Directory:Comcast|Comcast]], [[Directory:SunTrust Bank|SunTrust Bank]], [[Directory:Merrill Lynch|Merrill Lynch]], [[Directory:Vanguard Group|Vanguard Group]], and numerous Public Relations firms mostly located in New York City.

Having worked for three previous research firms ([[Directory:Data and Management Counsel|Data & Management Counsel]], [[Directory:Research Works|Research Works]], and [[Directory:ICR|ICR (International Communications Research)]]), Kohs is now Senior Research Advisor at [[Directory:Comcast|Comcast]].  His work includes mostly quantitative survey data collection among consumer audiences; however, some qualitative and commercial services initiatives are always on his plate.  Primary research areas will include video (television), Internet, and digital voice (telephony), along with occasional forays into new products and services outside these particular arenas.
