Then in 1816 Austrian census registered 66 000 Italian speaking people among the 301 000 inhabitants of the Kingdom of Dalmatia (Konigreich Dalmatien), or 22% of the total Dalmatian population. After [[World War II]], the Dalmatian Italian population was reduced to 1,000–4,000 people in todays Croatia Dalmatia and Montenegro.
