| + | Take from http://en.metapedia.org/wiki/West-Balkanic_Romance_tongues#Korzulot_in_Dalmatian_Isles: Korzulot in Dalmatian Isles |
| + | Korzulot is a recent semi-Romance tongue with predominating Slavonic grammar in southern Dalmatian islands, chiefly in Korčula (Ital. Curzola), few studied and real number of its speakers is nearly unknown. It appears to be a younger hybrid of Croat-Chakavian and Italic-Venetian dialects. After WW2, many its speakers were massacred by Yugoslav communist partisans in the foibes (natural vertical caverns) on islands Brač, Korčula and elsewhere. |
