(22:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC))<br /><br />I promise that I will do my very best not to engage in any personal attacks or mud slinging. I want this to be an opportunity for <b style="color:black;background-color:#ff9999">Durova</b> to present her evidence, and for me to defend against that evidence. Ultimately, I want the court of public opinion to determine whether this claim was accurate and I have misled journalists; or whether this claim was inaccurate and should have long ago been redacted.<br /><br />I suspect that the evidence that led <b style="color:black;background-color:#ff9999">Durova</b> to make that statement may have been about as reliable as the evidence that led her to block User:!! recently; however, I may be very wrong about that, and <b style="color:black;background-color:#ff9999">Durova</b> may have some stinging reminders of ways in which I have misled journalists in the past.<br /><br />Perhaps there is even some middle ground, where I dodged some uncomfortable questions, but did not deliberately "mislead". The painful lack of response, even to decline the offer, is what triggered a more confrontational tone on my part.<br /><br />I'm willing to return to a more pleasant tone. But, this offer stands for only 3 more days. After that, I don't think I'll be visiting the <b style="color:black;background-color:#99ff99">WikBack</b> any more, so I can't afford to keep looking here, in perpetuity, to see if <b style="color:black;background-color:#ff9999">Durova</b> has responded or not.<br /><br />The questions that I've had about paid editing were really the reason I came here. I got nearly unanimous support for Options "A" and "B", which are the beliefs that I hold. I've extended two fair offers. You can take either one. Otherwise I'll walk away.<br /><br />You're welcome to file an arbitration at Wikipedia to settle your grievance. There are a couple of arbitrators here who could help you with that.<br /><br />If that's not how you want to resolve this then I suggest you let bygones be bygones. I've never altered my standard offer to support an unblock for you: six months on the sidelines without violating WP:SOCK or bashing Wikipedia at offsite venues. You've already been banned for a total of more than twice that time. Why not try cooperation? Even though I can no longer toggle your ban myself, it would help you a lot to get an endorsement from me. In fact, I have on multiple occasions admitted that SHE JUST MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING on me, that I did actually mislead journalists! I'm just unfamiliar with what that deception might have been. Talking about it might have proved her correct. Instead, the only thing I have to go on was Brian Bergstein's e-mail to me that said he received Durova's evidence and he described it as "not relevant to his story".<br /><br />Really, that was enough closure for me.<br /><br />The point of my badgering now is really to see if the Wikipedia community will tolerate a contributor who defames a living person, provides no proof, and refuses to retract the statement.
