History
The Lock Up was founded in 1976 by Robert Soudan and Charles Sample, who built their first self storage facility in Glenview, Illinois. Currently, The Lock Up owns and manages over 1.6 million square feet of self storage and has partnered with a large pension fund that controls tens of billions of dollars. The Lock Up has also been cited as an industry leader and innovator in publications like The Wall Street Journal and Business 2.0.
