Overview
Carlson Wagonlit Travel is a leading global business travel management company, serving companies of all sizes including government institutions and non-governmental organisations in over 140 territories and countries. Originally part of Pickfords Travel, Carlson Wagonlit UK is the UK branch of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and deal with some of the UK’s largest corporate travel accounts. The UK Contingent boasts a local service with over 1,400 dedicated employees in over 30 locations.
History
Since 1994, the group has existed as a result of a 50/50 merger from two large travel agency ventures with the Carlson side originating from the Ask Mr. Foster Travel Agency chain, which had been rebranded a decade earlier. The Wagonlit component of the name originated from the travel shop business of Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. Accor maintained its share of the interest until 2006 where they sold their shares in a transaction worth €500,000. The company is jointly owned by Carlson, a privately held corporation in the marketing, hotel, restaurant and travel industries, as well as One Equity Partners, a private equity affiliate of JPMorgan Chase.
