Cross Stitch Centre offers great deals on cross stitch, tapestry needlepoint and embroidery. We are a specialist needlecraft company based in the UK, in the ancient market town of Alnwick in Northumberland. Our shop carries one of the largest ranges of cross stitch kits in the UK. Here you will also find a large selection of threads, fabrics, charts and accessories for creative needlework.

You are welcome to visit our Needlecraft Gallery, where our permanent exhibition of original cross stitch designs can be seen stitched and hung. This includes views of English castles, cathedrals and stately homes and traditional samplers. These can also be seen on our website, which includes a wealth of information on the art and craft of cross stitching.

History

Cross Stitch Centre was established in 1976 in a shop near the medieval castle of Alnwick, the ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland. You may well be familiar with Alnwick Castle as a film location for movies, such as Hogwarts in Harry Potter.

Alnwick is steeped in history and is well worth a visit. At the bottom of our street, a magnificent bronze statue has been unveiled, to mark the 700th anniversary of the Percy family in Alnwick. It depicts the Duke’s most famous ancestor, Sir Henry Percy known as "Harry Hotspur", who rose up in rebellion against the King of England, as recounted in Shakespeare's play Henry IV, Part 1.
