MARY GRAY BIRD SANCTUARY is 3.5 mi. s. on SR 121, then 3.5 mi. w. on CR 350S, following signs. The almost 700-acre nature preserve, owned by the Indiana Audubon Society, is laced with more than 6 miles of marked trails. Picnicking is permitted. Daily dawn-dusk. Donations. Phone (765) 825-9788.

WHITEWATER VALLEY RAILROAD, 1 mi. s. of SR 44 on SR 121, is a rustic 1865 train that follows the towpath of the Whitewater Canal to Metamora, Ohio. A 2-hour layover in Metamora allows shopping and sightseeing. In addition to its regular schedule, the train makes special trips throughout the year. Dinner trips also are available. Train departs Wed.-Fri. at 10, Sat.-Sun. and holidays at 12:01, in May; Sat.-Sun. and holidays at 12:01, June-Sept.; Thurs.-Fri. at 10, Sat.-Sun. at 12:01, in Oct. All trips return to Connersville by 5 p.m. Passengers are requested to arrive at the station 45 minutes before departure. Fare $12; ages 2-12, $6. Reservations are required for dinner trips.
