Dharma Books is a commercial independent publisher company located in New York, New York. The company was founded by an individual author, for authors… The Author was simply sick of either receiving troublesome publishing circumstances, with virtually no marketing help from publishers. Publishers could care less about most authors…

Dharma books actively engages in printing fiction that most publishing houses find unconventional, in terms of politics. Dharma books does not print illegal, flagrantly inappropriate, or intentionally harmful material, but does believe in supporting free speech. [1]

History

Dharma Books started business in 2009 after Mark Whistler began the process of bringing his sixth 6 book to print. With the successful printing of 2034, Whistler realized he could act as 'publisher' for other writers, seeking fair publishing deals, unlike what most publishers provide today. Unfortunately, most editors and publishers could care less about their authors, unless the author happens to be one of the top sellers. Editors and publishers overprice books, fail on marketing promises and virtually 'forget' about authors once books are in print. When authors attempt to market themselves, they will find dozens of 'printers' willing to help; however, the author will almost always be forced to pay for the services. At the end of the day, the world of publishing is surrounded by parasitical editors, publishers and marketers who hardly ever help an author succeed. Dharma books hopes to truly break this paradigm and finally empower authors to truly write for a living…
