  • Our full range of Marine and Offshore anodes manufactured in accordance with NACE and ASTM requirements. Technical design complying with BS 7361, DNV RP B401 and NORSOK Standard M-503.

Systems And Services

Cathodic Protection Systems

Cathodic protection (CP) is a method of corrosion control that can be applied to buried andsubmerged metallic structures. It is normally used in conjunction with coatings and can be considered as a secondary corrosion control technique. The primary corrosion control method on any given structure is normally a coating system which can be between 50 and 99 % efficient depending upon age, type, method of installation, etc. A properly designed and maintained cathodic protection system will take up the remainder resulting in a 100 % efficient corrosion protection system.

Zinc & Aluminium Sacrificial Anodes (SACP) Systems

In cathodic protection, a metal anode that is more reactive to the corrosive environment of the system to be protected is electrically linked to the protected system, and partially corrodes or dissolves, which protects the metal of the system it is connected to. As an example, an iron or steel ship's hull may be protected by a zinc sacrificial anode, which will dissolve into the seawater and prevent the hull from being corroded.

Sacrificial anodes are used on pipelines, platforms, subsea structures; wind turbine foundations and monopiles, wave and tidal generators; quay and harbour walls, jetties & pontoons, dock gates; ships and boats hulls, ballast, grey and potable water tanks; power station intake screens and storage tanks. In short any where steel is immersed in water, anodes will be found.

We specialise in manufacturing larger platform, bracelet and flush mounted Anodes, in sizes up to 4000Kg to the exacting standards of the Marine & Offshore industries.

Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) Systems

Impressed current cathodic protection systems provide automatic, permanent protection that prevents electrolysis and galvanic corrosion from attacking the submerged surfaces of a broad range of sea-going vessels and fixed or mobile offshore structures. Our systems are the ultimate state-of-the-art, long-term solution to corrosion problems, and are recognized as a superior alternative to sacrificial anode systems, which require frequent replacement. Impressed current cathodic protection systems are preferred by ship owners because they reduce fuel cost and maintenance.

Marine Growth Prevention System (MGPS)

Ships while sailing use seawater for several purposes. The seawater is used in the ship’s system and discharged after the use. However, seawater contains several marine organisms which enter the ship along with the seawater and deposit and flourish on the parts of the ship’s system. If preventive measures are not taken, the marine growth can cause damage to the particular part in the long run. In this article we will learn about the causes and effects of marine growth in a ship’s system along with the measures to fight it.

CHLOROPAC® Electrochlorination

Electrochlorination in general means treatment by on-site generation of equivalent chlorine in the form of a low concentration of sodium hypochlorite in a solution of seawater or salt water and injecting this solution into the main water stream requiring treatment. Onsite generation removes the need for bulk storage of chemical. The capacity of the Sodium Hypochlorite generating system is determined by the chlorine demand of the main water stream to be treated and its residence time in the system to be protected which enables the equivalent chlorine dosing regime to be established and the equivalent chlorine per hour required to be calculated.

Siemens SiCURE Ballast Water Management System

To help meet ballast water treatment management standards as outlined in the 2004 IMO Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, Siemens Water Technologies has developed a ballast water treatment system that provides a reliable, environmentally sound solution that is designed to protect against the proliferation of aquatic invasive species.

The patent pending SiCURE™ ballast water management system uses a combination of physical separation and a proprietary, on-demand treatment with biocides, produced in-situ from seawater, without the addition of chemicals. The system is based on a proven 30+ year record and over 2,500 shipboard installations of the well-known Chloropac® biofouling control system.

Propeller Shaft Grounding System

A turning propeller shaft on a ship becomes electrically insulated from ship hull by the lubricating oil film in the bearings and by use of non-metallic bearing materials in the tail shaft. When the shaft is insulated in this way an electrical potential can be measured between the turning propeller shaft and the ship hull and this can accelerate corrosion in the ship. If the ship has a system of cathodic protection, whether it is sacrificial anodes or an impressed current system, the shaft insulation will prevent the propeller and the boss from receiving protection. The electrical potential between shaft and hull can also cause a heavy current to flow in bearings when the oil film breaks down or is contaminated with seawater. This current can cause deep pitting of the bearing surface. Excessive wear on the shaft bearings can often be traced to this cause. Trouble can be avoided and cathodic protection extended to the propeller if the shaft is properly earthed with a shaft earthing system.

Engineering Services

Cathodic Marine Engineering has further utilised it’s CP facility , by branching out to Engineering & Fabrication works. We been helping ocean-faring vessels re-condition and repair their engines effectively . We strive to reduce operational downtime for our Local and International customers using the most cutting edge repair and reconditioning techniques and equipment.

We pride ourselves for providing high quality repair services for our customers. Specialised in reconditioning damaged or worn out components of marine diesel engines, we are capable of reconditioning and repairing various ship engine parts accurately according to their original manufacturer's size and specification.
