Island of Consciousnessan islomania NOVEL
This novel is all set to give a kaleidoscopic view of the Chagossians via lucid dreaming. With loads of humor, the story revolves around a powerful controversy, for the sake of awareness and fairness. The surprising element is not the exposing of the transatlantic cover-up but rather the innovative stage setup, to uplift those downtrodden and deprived people. Thus 'Island of Consciousness' is not about tragedy; it's on awareness and inspiration!
In this novel ‘Island of Consciousness', most characters are put into one of two totally unconnected and yet emotionally involved groups - Chagossians or Americans! However, one character from each side fosters positive development to the point that even the shamful ‘Depopulation of Diego Garcia’ could be almost put to rest. These characters ought to be viewed as people with unique personalites. Tarzan a Chagos native is perhaps one of the most interesting people introduced to in this book. Then again, Aldan Foy (a coma survivor) is the narrator and the sole focal character. The nonfictional fact is, innocent Chagossians entangled in the constitutional barbed wire, cannot 'ever' get complete justice in their fight for the British Indian Ocean Territory (read Diego Garcia) nor would their lost livelihood is going to be magically uplifted. Aldan, who causally sets off a mission to study Mauritius ethnical differences, gets fascinated seeing the plight of Chagos refugees and the balance of integrity gone awry! As he prepares to produce a documentary film about his newly found friends, he encounters the ever haunting ‘Boxing Day’ disaster - affectionately referred as tsunami! Now in coma, Aldan is able to dream and as well able to control the same. So for the next four years in his lucid dreaming, he finds a great solution for the Chagossians folks and fixes all issues trickery. Tarzan, his close Chagos friend is the hero in his dream episode. Recovering from coma, how Aldan tries to recollect his rusted long dream and the subsequent coordination of a plan with Tarzan befalls the concluding part. Whether the U.S. and British listen in, such innovative proposal remains anybodies guess! However the story brings into light their sufferings during depopulation and also takes a closer look of their forced elevated status (read refugees) and current ineffable living conductions. Nonetheless, the tragedy gets outshined by inspiration with sophisticated surprise!
