Introduction

Aficionados is a Centiare mechanism used to provide links from Main Space articles to discussions, and contributors and other interested persons and/or entities. In contrast to an article's history page, aficionados links allow the use of true names via Directory listings. Aficionados also provide a means to associate persons/entities with other interests (if any), as well as display other contributions they may have made. Contributions can be ERB articles, other Main space articles, or information included with Directory listings.

Main Page Links

Adding the following template to the bottom of any Main space article:

aficionados

Will generate this:

Aficionados

Aficionados Subpages

Clicking through to the Aficionados subpage, a standard ASK query that looks like this (using Boxing as an example):

The following have semantically tagged Boxing as an interest:
<ASK Mainlabel="Person" Header="show" Link="all">
Personal_Interest::Boxing
Interests
Contributions
</ASK>
<br clear="all">

The following have semantically tagged Sports as an interest:
<ASK Mainlabel="Person" Header="show" Link="all">
[[Personal_Interest::<q>:Category:Sports</q>]]
Interests
Contributions
</ASK>
<br clear="all">

Will generate a result that looks like this:

The following have semantically tagged Boxing as an interest: <ASK Mainlabel="Person" Header="show" Link="all"> Boxing Interests Contributions </ASK>

The following have semantically tagged Sports as an interest: <ASK Mainlabel="Person" Header="show" Link="all"> Personal_Interest::Category:Sports Interests Contributions </ASK>

Side Note

The attribute Personal Interest is used for both individuals and entities (ie businesses). This is because:

 • If we reduced personal interest to interest, it may conflict with a future financial attribute called interest; and
 • Creating a business interest or other similar descriptor could lead to tag proliferation. Since many people & businesses have similar interests (eg real estate), it would only fragment semantic values.

Conclusion

Aficionados is all about creating the means by which a community of interested persons can exchange information regarding Main space articles without the typical degradation seen where NPOV is imposed i.e., edit wars, deletions, reversions, link spam, etc.
