Welcome!

Hi Controltheweb, welcome to MyWikiBiz. We're happy that you've taken the steps to become a member of our site. MyWikiBiz is a directory where any person, any company, any product, or any thing can author their own legacy. We seek to provide the space for 265 million entities. Our registered editors like you have generated over 60,000 pages so far -- help keep that number growing with an article about yourself, your business, your industry, your favorite product, hobby, or organization. Since 2008, MyWikiBiz.com has served up over 1 million page views. Get started authoring your legacy today!

Helpful tips

Here are some tips on how to create a Directory listing and take advantage of the semantic web features we have in place:

  • You may write as an opinionated advocate in the Directory -- neutral view is not required. You can sell products, promote videos, upload documents, even host your own Google AdSense ads. This auto-fill form will guide you through creating a very basic directory listing right now.
  • Because MyWikiBiz supports Semantic Web technology, search engine results are highly optimized. Internal searches can also be performed that wouldn't be possible on Google, MySpace, or Wikipedia.

A few favorite pages that might help acquaint a new user with the possibilities are found among the Demonstration links, or in these articles written by independent reviewers.

Listing

Your listing looks great. If you're interested, we can show you a couple of tricks using Centiare's semantic features. They provide a couple of key advantages, one of which is that Google prioritizes the RDF's in their search results (we surmise they're preparing for the semantic web). The other is that they provide excellent document roll-up & organizational capabilities. (That is, they enable subjects/categories structured in a traditional flat wiki to emulate a hierarchical organization.) To see an example of this in action, check out KJ Kitchens. Aficionados

Love your contribution to Resource Description Framework! Looks like you already know quite a bit about the semantic web, so it's great to have you on board. Let me share a couple of tricks we're employing at Centiare to make it fly. Main space articles need to maintain a NPOV because we want to:

  1. Avoid the types of incessant edit wars/reverts/deletions at Wikipedia, which results from attempting to shoehorn NPOV into inherently commercial environments;
  2. Elminate link spam (also resulting from NPOV);
  3. Encourage commercial contributions (articles placed within Directory/User space), protect intellectual property, and facilitate service/produce promotion; and
  4. Foster a sense of community amongst like minded individuals and/or entities.

We came up with a technique called Aficionados. Using the template {{aficionados}}, one can automatically place a set of links pointing to different discussion/link sections residing in subpages. Then, using a standard ASK query, a chart of links to other interested parties, their interests and their contributions can be automatically generated!

And the beauty of all this is that it uses semantic tags to facilitate both the relationships and generate reports. Pretty cool, huh? Having a simple policy like this allows the Main space to remain clean & uncluttered, and we don't have a lot of people jockeying & monkeying with link spam, etc.

If you want to see an example of this, go to Resource Description Framework itself. To maintain NPOV, you'll notice I edited out any Centiare references (we don't want to practice favoritism). However, click through to the links, and you'll see Centiare listed as an interested party, plus it has its own article on the subject.

Guess what? You can do the same exact thing for Directory:Francine Neago. That is, you can create Main space articles on subjects like primatology, then use Aficionados to point to your directory listing + any research papers, etc you'd like to place there. Let me know if you need any help putting this together - we'd be happy to help out. Snerfling 07:27, 5 February 2007 (PST)

Wikilinks

I also noticed that you were using a lot of external links [ ], rather than internal wikilinks [[ ]]. Internal links, especially those with semantic tags, seem to be picked up much better by search engines for SEO. Snerfling 07:27, 5 February 2007 (PST)

Semantic Tags

All right, I finally got a chance to take a look at the tags you created for Directory:Francine Neago. Here are some comments & suggestions:

I think you have an excellent opportunity to flesh out Primatologist, behavior, ape & orangutan in the Main space. While they must conform to NPOV, you can use Centiare:aficionados to link her directory information, CV, articles, etc. to those articles. (Yes, the sem tags get picked up by Google.)

Infobox Person

Alright, I went ahead and cleaned up/created some of the tags you were using. If you take a look at Directory:Francine Neago, I think you will find it quite interesting how subject matter interests link to Main space articles (and vice versa).

If you take a look at Carl Sagan, you can see how we incorporated semantic tags and an infobox. Francine Neago would be a great listing to incorporate academic papers & link them to general or ERB Main space topics. Let me know if you need any assistance. Snerfling 11:56, 8 February 2007 (PST)
