FileInspect is an online reference resource that provides information about system and third party processes running on Windows computers. FileInspect is developed and maintained by Auslogics Software Pty Ltd, which was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia.

History FileInspect was created in 2009 by Auslogics Software Pty Ltd in order to provide a comprehensive online resource about processes running on Windows-based computers. The website is still in Beta, as new processes are being added every day and existing processes are being updated with the most recent information.

Features FileInspect contains information about more than 20 thousand Microsoft and third party processes, both legitimate and malicious. The processes in FileInspect library are listed in alphabetical order. The website also includes a local search feature.

Process descriptions Each process has a detailed description and popular processes like rundll32.exe, explorer.exe, svchost.exe etc. come with troubleshooting and repair advice.

Security rating All processes have a security rating, which is either safe, unsafe, or dangerous. The rating is intended to warn users of any malicious processes running on their system. The rating feature is interactive and users can submit their own process rating.

Interactive features FileInspect visitors can leave comments on process pages and submit their own process ratings.

System monitoring tools In addition to providing information about Windows processes, FileInspect offers two free system monitoring tools for download. These tools are Auslogics Task Manager, which can be used in addition to or instead of the standard Windows Task Manager, and FileInspect Sidebar Gadget for computers running Windows Vista or Windows 7.
