Wikipedia and conflict of interest go hand in hand. Pretty much any subject you search in Google for, and the article about it in Wikipedia comes first in the ranking. That makes Wikipedia an attractive target for determined groups of individuals who want to present their idea or product in a global market, free of charge. Join the encylopedia that anyone can edit, write an article about your favourite company, band or other commercial interest, and you have some very expensive advertising for free.
There are assocations of editors who try to weed out potential conflicts, so this is only possible if you have influence at senior levels of Wikipedia. Fortunately, this is easily arranged.
