Dan Goldie was born on October 3, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in McLean, Virginia and attended Stanford University from 1982-1986, graduating with a degree in economics. As a tennis player at Stanford, he won the NCAA singles title in 1986, and was part of two NCAA championship teams (1982 and 1986). As a professional tennis player, he was ranked as high as 27th in the world in singles, won four professional titles (two in singles and two in doubles) and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 1989.

After retiring from professional tennis in 1991, he became an independent financial advisor and received an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently President of Dan Goldie Financial Services in Menlo Park, California. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner.
