alluraDirect.com Vacation Rentals is a safe and convenient website for travellers to find and book a vacation rental directly from the Owner. By renting directly from Owners, travellers save on costly commission fees and sometimes even hotel taxes. alluraDirect.com provides the technology for vacation rental Owners to accept instantly confirmed online bookings by credit card (much like booking a hotel from the Guest's perspective). This technology makes booking from the Owner safer for Guests than using traditional owner-direct websites as credit card information is never disclosed to the Owner.
Vacation rental Owners benefit from alluraDirect.com's automated systems that allow them to take bookings 24/7 and have their rental calendars automatically updated. They can also link into alluraDirect.com's online booking system from any other websites or listings they may have for their property. This means that only one rental calendar is necessary and that there is no risk of a double-booking. Credit card payments made by Guests are deposited to the Owner's bank account within 3-4 business days - a much faster and more reliable way of taking payment than more traditional methods such as cheques, money orders or bank transfers.
History
alluraDirect.com Vacation Rentals [1] was born in 1997 with Sue Chappel's dream of owning a vacation home and lack of funds to make her dream a reality. As a solution-driven Ph.D scientist, she started a basic website with a few static pages advertising vacation rentals that Guests could book (if she could defray the cost of owning the vacation rental property with revenue from bookings it could work!). The website evolved quickly though the hard work of Sue and a handful of passionate employees and the support of Owner-clients and fanatically loyal site users.
The principles that built the company and helped the website grow from a few static pages to industry-leading technology are still practiced today. alluraDirect.com lives with the gap of where the website is and where it wants to be. Many of the tools on the website today were developed based on client feedback and the initiative of employees always finding better, more efficient and user-friendly ways to make things work.
To date, alluraDirect.com lists over 800 properties, mostly in Canadian ski resorts. New technology, in its final stages of development will allow the company to offer full service to Owners of vacation rental homes all over the world. At this time, vacation rental listings are being accepted in all destinations - but e-commerce tools are offered for Canadian bank account holders only. (check back in summer 2010 for an update)
