Our Vision:

Our History:

In 1948, Allied Fire & Security founder R.A. (Bob) Hunt purchased a small, 5-employee company - Spokane Safe and Lock. Originally chartered in 1902, Spokane Safe and Lock sold and serviced small safes and performed key and locksmithing services in the Spokane area.

R.A. Hunt was a visionary who yearned to expand his new business beyond the local region. The boom of the post-WWII era saw a plethora of new banks springing up in towns all across the Pacific Northwest. Recognizing this market opportunity, Mr. Hunt broadened his base of products and services to meet the needs of these newly sprouted financial institutions.

Over the next 10 years, Allied acquired and opened additional retail and service offices in Portland and Seattle. This expansion hastened the need for a new company name and structure to oversee the operations of all three branches. Hence, the name Allied Safe and Vault became our incorporated identity. The 1950s also marked the entrance of sons Robin and Terrill (Terry) Hunt into the business. Robin left after a short time to begin a 20-year Army career.

The enormous growth of both the domestic and international financial markets during the 50s gave rise to new opportunities in safes and bank security equipment. In the early 1970s Allied's Spokane branch began focusing on the manufacturing of bank security products. Eventually, Allied expanded production facilities with the purchase of the Gary Safe Company in 1981. Robin, then just recently retired from the Army, returned to join forces with his father and brother in 1982, and oversaw Allied's manufacturing division as president of the Allied-Gary Safe Company until the manufacturing division was sold in 1997.

Terry Hunt assumed the helm as President of Allied in 1976 and established Allied"s 24-hour alarm monitoring center in Spokane four years later. Rapid growth lead to an alliance between Allied and an alarm monitoring center in Lacey, Wash. to handle the growing volume of business from Allied's Portland, and Seattle offices. Sadly, R.A. Hunt passed away in 1985.

The dawning of the computer age ushered in entirely new areas for growth. Identification systems, access control, surveillance and integrated electronic alarm systems offered endless opportunities for further expansion.

Today, the third generation of Hunt leadership oversees Allied's daily operations: Jay Hunt, Terry's son. Jay first joined Allied in 1987 and became Allied's president in 2001. Energetic and Internet savvy, Jay is well suited to lead Allied in this age of rapidly changing and advancing technologies. Recently, along with Allied's Board of Directors, Jay voted to adopt a new Corporate identity to better capture Allied's integrated security systems approach: Allied Fire and Security.

Now with 145 more employees than we had 59 years ago, Allied continues to operate its three primary branches in Spokane, Seattle and Portland, and steadfastly promotes and supports numerous local social service organizations in all three communities – a tradition begun by our founder. You can see a partial list of the local organizations Allied participates in by visiting our Associations and Accreditations page.

Throughout all six decades of operation, three little words have served as Allied's guiding principle in servicing our customers – peace of mind. Today, Allied Fire & Security works even harder to reinforce our commitment to provide our customers with peace of mind. With technological advances, the "bad guys" have gotten smarter and more sophisticated. Allied has 59 years of experience meeting them head on with new technology of its own. We invite you to put our knowledge and experience to work for you today. Call any of our toll-free numbers and let Allied give you peace of mind.
