Career

Journalism

Rosen began her career as a professional journalist early on, writing for the Los Angeles Times as a teenager. [5]

Also early in her career, Rosen wrote for Axcess Magazine, including the first national cover story featuring the band No Doubt in 1996 [6][7], and an article featuring Milla Jovovich in 1997 [8].

Her experience as a guitarist in a punk rock band helped her during her time working for the OC Weekly in Orange County [9] as a music writer and then as features editor. During that time she won awards for Best Lifestyle Feature, Best Entertainment Review, and Best Weekly Beat Portfolio. [10]. One of her better known pieces was an article about Thomas Kinkade. [11].

From 2005 to 2008, Rosen worked at Time Out New York, first as a music writer, then as associate features editor, when as web editor, and finally as the editor of the the "Hot Seat" section. [12] As Hot Seat editor, she interviewed celebrities such as Maggie Gyllenhaal [13] and where she gained notoriety in 2007 for interviewing Ed Koch and inquiring about his sexuality. [14] Rosen also interviewed Kevin Connolly in the Hot Seat.[15]

In 2008, Rosen was named New York's Funniest Reporter and also performed at the 2009 New York’s Funniest Reporter Show. [16][17]

In 2009, Rosen began writing a column titled "Your Money... Your Job... Your Life" for McSweeney's. [18]

At various points in her career, Rosen has also written for numerous publications including Rolling Stone, Maxim Magazine, Spin Magazine, People Magazine, Village Voice, New York Press, Nerve, Seventeen Magazine, Vibe Magazine, Seattle Weekly, and the Minneapolis City Pages. Television

Rosen's weekly segment Best Bets with Alison Rosen ran on New York's WNBC-TV's Weekend Today from 2005 to 2008.

She has also appeared on numerous nationally broadcasted television programs, including Chelsea Lately, Fox News' Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld, Geraldo at Large, and Hannity shows. Rosen also has written for Fox News Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld program. [25]

Other

Rosen has co-written songs for two films, including "Sick Dance" for the 2001 movie Down and Out with the Dolls and "I Never" for the 2003 film Prey for Rock and Roll. [26]

Rosen currently produces a daily web show, The Daily Alison, which is a comedy talk show and has included interviews with many guests, including Doug Benson, Natali Del Conte, Courtney Cummz, Matt Nathanson, Michael Showalter, Eugene Mirman, Diana Falzone, Marc Price, Will Forte, Graham Elwood, Rex Sorgatz, Julia Allison, and Joel Stein.
