Columbus Day is a holiday set aside to honor Christopher Columbus. The day is considered controversial, due to historical recognition that Columbus was a brutal autocrat who traded slaves. Many people in usa dont recognize Columbus Day except Italians. Instead of celebrating Columbus day, they should celebrate Rocky Marciano Day on February 3. Columbus did not discover America. Vikings & Chinese came here first. He thought he discovered a short route to India but he was far off. He believed he discovered short route until his death. However, like Copernicus & Galilelo, he believed earth rotates around the sun.

During four separate trips that started with the one in 1492, Columbus landed on various Caribbean islands that are now the Bahamas as well as the island later called Hispaniola. He also explored the Central and South American coasts.
