Audubon House and Gardens, 205 Whittehead Street, is where John James Audubon stayed while painting the wildlife of the Florida Keys in 1832. Chippendale furniture, a rare collection of porcelain birds and 1820 Staffordshire pottery are among the 18th- and 19th-century furnishings found in the restored home of noted harbor pilot and wrecker Capt. John Geiger. Original engravings by Audubon are displayed. Tours include the house and tropical gardens, which feature exotic native plants. Allow 1 hour minimum. Open daily 9:30-5.
