==Early Life==
Born in 1984 in Durban, South Africa, Smith was born in the former era of 'white rule' also known as apartheid.
He was a highly active sportsman up until his late-teens participating in various sports including cricket, rugby, swimming, cross-country, and track. Most notable was his ability to play the game of soccer, so much so, that he was selected to represent his local district, 'Pinetown and District', at the age of 10. During his young soccer career, Smith was awarded both 'Player of the Year' and 'Sportsman of the Year' while playing for various clubs.
In 1997 at the age of twelve and three (3) years after the fall of apartheid, Smith's family joined the mass exodus of emigrants attempting to escape the political unrest and crime that was being seen in South Africa. After his father signed a contract with a textile firm, Smith moved with his family to the south-east USA, settling in [[Directory:Atlanta, Georgia|Atlanta]], [[Directory:Georgia|Georgia]].
