The carbon dioxide molecule is a chemical compound composed of a carbon atom and two atoms of oxygen. Often it is referred to by its formula CO2. It is present in the atmosphere of the [[Earth]] in a low concentration and acts as a gas "greenhouse" by allowing ultraviolet radiation through, but trapping heat in. In its solid state, is called [[dry ice]]. It is a great component of the [[carbon cycle]].
