:The css/js changes are made to your own respective files. I think you're finding out first hand why changing the basic appearance is such a big deal. I find it hard to believe that the look & feel is what is preventing more people from signing up and using the service. Centiare is loaded with all sorts of functions and extensions - it just needs to find its audience. Personally, I would focus on increasing the usability of the pages you've created so far.
