Cross Stitch Centre was established in 1976 in a shop near the medieval castle of Alnwick, the ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland. You may well be familiar with Alnwick Castle as a film location for movies, such as Hogwarts in Harry Potter.<br><br><br />
Alnwick is steeped in history and is well worth a visit. At the bottom of our street, a magnificent bronze statue has been unveiled, to mark the 700th anniversary of the Percy family in Alnwick. It depicts the Duke’s most famous ancestor, Sir Henry Percy known as "Harry Hotspur", who rose up in rebellion against the King of England, as recounted in Shakespeare's play Henry IV, Part 1.<br />
