Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise is a book by multi-platinum publicist, Jonathan Hay. It is based on the author's experience working as a publicist behind the scenes of the music industry and his involvement staging publicity to attract media coverage for artists.

In an interview conducted by Joe Klein of The Associated Press for Publicity Stunt: The Art Of Noise, Hay admitted to his direct involvement in a publicity stunt which fabricated a rumor in 2005 involving Grammy award winning singer, Rihanna, hip-hop artist and former CEO of Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records, Jay-Z, and Jay-Z's wife and American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress Beyoncé. The rumor was said to have been started to generate publicity for Rihanna's single, "Pon de Replay," which was first made public in the mainstream media on March 17, 2005 by Jonathan Hay through co-producer Vada Nobles on MTV News. The song then went on to be a big success, peaking at #2 on the USA Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and reaching #1 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. Excerpts of the interview and mention of Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise are quoted on such media sources as The Insider, BET, SOHH, and Essence.
