The sporting teams of schools and colleges will often have a school mascot.
Humorous mascots
Lincoln Park (MI) High School -- the Railsplitters. Hutto (TX) High School -- the Hippos.
Let's not forget the Annandale (VA) Atoms, or the Marshall County (KY) High School Marshals. Their mascot is a sheriff with a big gun.
A menacing school nickname is the Staples (Westport, CT) Wreckers. Not so intimidating are the Boiling Springs (PA) Bubblers. Also sounding very fragile are the Pottstown (OH) Ceramics.
